The creeping headache of doom

Filed under: PolenBabble, Kvetch! Kvetch! Kvetch! — Twin C @ 9:04 am

I woke up yesterday with what I thought could be the start of a sore throat - very dry and sort of achy. I tried to stay hydrated all day, and I bought some vitamins to start taking again. I’d been taking them for years, then sort of stopped. One of my exes was very hard core with the whole thing - she took twelve different capsules, never pills, because pills don’t dissolve well. I followed her regimen for a while, but eventually got annoyed taking so many pills, but vitamin B smells so nasty, it used to make me nauseous. This time, I bought pills, but they’re not like those tiny Centrum compressed things - they’re horse pills, and they’re supposed to break down easily. I also got some Omega 3s, as I understand those are supposed to be really good for you as well.

Last night Twin A, PSB and I met up with our friend Leslie at her apartment - Kissyfur was also supposed to come, but she (also) was not feeling well. We had some wine and cheese at Leslie’s, then went to Matador for white sangria and tapas. I only had three glasses of wine/sangria, and had eaten quite a bit, and was hydrated, so there was no chance of getting sick, right?

Nope. At 4 a.m. I woke up with a nasty headache that would not go away. What was really weird about it was that it really hurt if I laid down, but if I was standing, it almost disappeared. I couldn’t really fall back asleep - I’d doze a drop, then wake up, really achy, go get some water to rehydrate (it was also pretty hot in our bedroom - that might have been part of the problem) and go to the bathroom, then lay back down and toss and turn for a while.

Six hours later, I’m on my second dose of Excedrin (I can’t even remember the last time I’ve had to take pain killers more than once for a headache). Needless to say, I’m not in the office. I’m going to go sack out in front of the TV shortly - looking at the monitor isn’t helping my head much.
