Did I do something wrong? (Does this kvetch make sense?)

A little work nonsense from this week.

Twin C,

could you please put these in the form of slides and send back to me? You can use the (department) slide template.

Thanks,

Boss

(document attached)

I take the document and change it into slides, placed on the proper template, and send it to her.

could you move the title up to the Title section at the top of each slide? I think that would give more room for text on the center.

Thanks.

Not a problem. I do this and immediately send it back.

This morning, I get this:

Oh beloved slave of mine (note: embellished slightly),

could you clean these up a bit so they look better? I would like you to change some of the numbers to bullets, adjust the font and make the slides look nicer for a presentation rather than just paste from the word document I sent you. Please work on it today and send back to me as soon as possible. call if you need clarification.

Thanks

Boss

Is it just me, or does it sound like I did it incorrectly? I did exactly what she told me to do each time - she never said “make it look nice”.

But I did, and sent it back, and now she’s happy. For the time being.

  1. Always make it look nice. It takes longer and they learn that your communications documents take time! They are important! They are not trifles to be rushed and slapdashed! Plus, if people are used to your stuff taking time, you can take more time to slack off when it really IS easy trifing stuff. Remember, always UNDER-promise then OVER-deliver!
