The Miracle of (Office) Life

A year and a half ago, coworkers gave me their plants to take care of - their office was getting too much sun, and the plants were unhappy. (There’s something really odd about that statement.) I happily took the plants and gave them water and talked nicely to them and made them be friends with my other plants. The little, viney ones were happy - well, they were always happy. They had a tendency to overgrow:

Little cube, little cube of horrors!

We got over our disagreements and moved on. The largest plant was not as easy to placate - artificial light wasn’t enough to make him happy right away. His big dried out brownish splotches did not disappear. I trimmed sparingly and always remembered to water. I battled the many mealy bug invasions, and tried not to over-spray the insecticides. I kept the vines at bay.

Last week, I was rewarded for my diligence.

Hooray for office plants!

Pretty neat! I have no idea what kind of plant it is though. The flowers smell good, too.

Guess I have to start Polen(berg)ating.

Have a great weekend! Safe travels, Twin A! We want LOTS of blog entries!

  1. “Duhhh, yeah, I helped the plant grow, and now it’s got weird-lookin’ buds bloomin’, but I got no idea what kind of plant it is, so I just have it in my office and it smells purty…” Dude, have you never seen a horror movie?!?!?! GET IT OUT! GET IT OUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

  2. They’re all dying now. It’s sad.

Only the vines wanted me dead. This plant loves me. I know it does. It’ll eat my evil coworkers, but not me.
