And now, a brief commerical message
Polenblog commenter and good friend DKNY has a show running - here’s the scoop:
I’m dropping a line to let everyone know about the revival of my 2001 play A LITTLE PIECE OF THE SUN, which is now playing in a great production by Ian W. Hill at the Brick Theater.
A LITTLE PIECE OF THE SUN is a documentary for the stage, juxtaposing the story of the Chernobyl disaster with the life of Andrei Chikatilo, the Soviet serial killer who murdered, raped, and ate 53 people in the 70s and 80s. It’s a grim ride, but I hope a fascinating one, two stories of bureaucratic indifference and concealed murder, which become one story of lies and corruption.
I originally directed the play in the New York International Fringe Festival, and it’s now been restaged by downtown auteur Ian W. Hill, who brings his trademark visual and dramatic smarts to the production. The show features a terrific ensemble cast, with some of my favorite veterans of the Lower East Side days. Pictures can be seen at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=112175915924 or http://collisionwork.livejournal.com/192924.html
So I’m urging everyone with a tolerance for the grim to check it out! The show is happening at The Brick, at 575 Metropolitan Avenue, near the Metropolitan/Lorimer G and L stop: http://bricktheater.com/directions .
It’s part of the Gemini Collisionworks festival, so it’s on an erratic festival schedule: August 15, 21, 23 and 27 at 8.00 pm; August 16 and 30 at 3.00 pm
You can buy tickets online at https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/cal/122/1249174769457 , and I urge everyone to try to get there before the end of the run, when it may start selling out.
Thanks, everyone, and I hope you all have a chance to, er, “enjoy” the show!
