Another good show, that you can’t see!

At least, not until he puts it up again - Martin Dockery, who recently paid the Polenblog a visit, workshopped a new monologue last night called The Bike Trip, about LSD and Albert Hoffman and San Francisco and dancing and “feeling okay”, among other things. Martin is an excellent storyteller, and kept us highly entertained. He is putting up a different show, called The Surprise, in a few weeks. I would highly recommend going. It seems as though he needs to fix his webpage though - I clicked on the link in “Friends of Polenblog” and got some weird error. Fix, Dockery, Fix!

Last night was also my first visit to the new Galapagos, which is AWESOME. It’s a gorgeous space. I think The Moth is doing an event there this spring - I’m looking forward to it.

A show to see. . .

PSB and I saw Mike Birbiglia in “Sleepwalk With Me” at the Bleecker Street Theater last night. (As I found out last night during the show, there is the possibility that Mike is reading this right now, if his Google Alerts are working properly. Hi Mike! PSB worked with you at the Moth! I met you briefly at Andy and Olivia’s wedding party.) Please buy tickets and go ASAP. Mike is charming and hysterical, and has a bunch of fascinating stories that he has weaved together into an amazing show. He does a fantastic job keeping us entralled and in stitches. Go see it!

Happy Birthday Twin A!!!!!

Safe travels home. Hope you had a great trip. We are all sorely disappointed that you did not share any globetrotting elititude with us.

(I’m not one to talk. I never blogged about Turkey.)

P.S. SORRY TWIN D!!!! We never wished you a happy birthday on the 17th! We were too busy demanding that you make us pigs in blankets.

I need to take some Robitussin because I have a spiny boulder in my lungs right now. I was going to blog about how much I hate Robitussin, but then I remembered this post back from the first year of the Polenblog. Enjoy.

C and D at work via e-mail

Filed under: IM Madness — Twin C @ 11:18 am

(talking about an expected promotion, possibly two, from my job)

C: i’ll get a merit raise within a month i think, and then the promotion to the higher admin level should also come with a raise.

D: sweet. and hopefully some sanity.

C: i don’t know if i’m going to have any left. it’s just about gone. i’m going to stab the woman across from me. i HATE HER VOICE SO MUCH AND ALL SHE DOES IS TALK.

D: I don’t want to visit you in jail, so please don’t do it. Plus my e-mail is monitored so they have the evidence here.

C: it’s been swell, buddy. don’t forget to send me the materials so that i can make a fifi bag.

Safe Travels Twin A!!!

A is off to Ireland to work on an installation - I believe it is the Blinky Dome, yes?

Our friend JC (not to be confused with JCS) is going with.

Have a great trip! Good luck with the installation! Drink some Bailey’s for me!

The Natural Alarm Clock

Filed under: PolenBabble, Kvetch! Kvetch! Kvetch! — Twin C @ 8:31 am

It’s 8:30 a.m.

I got home at 2:45 last night, after choosing to freeze my ass off on the Smith/9th Street platform, waiting for the G to come instead of just springing for a car. I had the money, so it would not have been a big deal. I was a little tipsy and a little tired - perhaps I wasn’t thinking straight. However, this is not my point. My point is, why would I be up at 8:30 after getting home at 2:45?

Because of one of the only disadvantages of having Hamilton is that he is up at 8:00 a.m. every morning (sometimes a drop earlier, but not much - he’s extremely consistent), and unlike a cat, as you can dodge some paws to your cheek by hiding under the blanket and you can learn to sleep through being trodden upon, the chirps just keep on coming until you get up, take him out for a few minutes, and give him “birdie breakfast”. It’s great during the week, actually - he’s nicer to wake up to than news radio. But on the weekend, it’s a bummer. Of course he’s so freaking adorable that I can’t be mad at him. But now I’m going to try to go back to sleep, as he chomps on his seeds. . .
