The end of an era. . .

Alas, sweet nectar, your time is up.

I remember Zima coming out when I was a senior in college - they had free samples of it in the pub on campus, and they were giving away bottle openers and key chains and crap like that. I remember thinking “It’s like a wine cooler but not quite as tasty”. Later on that year, they used to try and sell them by having you take a sip, and then splashing in a shot of flavored schnapps - I never bothered with any of those. I was too busy drinking screwdrivers and gin and tonics.

PSB and I are up. At 8:30. On a Saturday.

Why, pray tell?

We’re getting on a plane in three hours to head up to Buffalo, to visit some of her friends from college! They came to our wedding - they are super nice. I think we’ll also be going to Niagra Falls. . .

I need to go take a shower. And pack. As we’re coming home tomorrow night, packing will not be very difficult, even for me, as an extreme overpacker. Away for three days? Quick, four pairs of jeans, six shirts, and nine pairs of underwear and socks! Four pairs of shoes!

Turkey was actually a bit of a challenge - we knew we’d have to do laundry at some point, so I really tried to just bring a week’s worth of clothes, knowing that I’d wash them and rewear them. I actually brought a week and three quarters worth of clothes, and ended up washing two shirts and two boxer briefs. It all fit in a medium size suitcase though, and wasn’t outrageously heavy. . .

Play to find a cure. . .

I donated money recently for someone’s walk, and got put on the e-mail list for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Now, I’m happy to give money to my friends when they are participating in something, but I don’t necessarily want all the mail to go with it - I also donate to the United Way through my job (conveniently enough, by donating to Family Focus - they do a matching program) so it’s not like I’m not constantly giving anyway. I was about to hit the delete button after finding the unsubscribe link, when I saw this:

LLS recently launched Play2Cures ( lls.play2cures.org ), which employs the Plegeplay platform and allows participants to play casual games online while donating money to help find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The site lets players purchase online tokens - $1 per token and a minimum of $10 - to play a variety of games, with more to come. Each token will help fund blood cancer research, provide critical information and support to patients and their families and help LLS advocate for issues impacting blood cancer patients. Tokens can also be given to friends and family, and participants are encouraged to compete against each other for top scores. Carol envisions Pledgeplay as a way for families to bond with one another while doing something positive for other families.

I think it’s a pretty neat concept. I’m wondering if they can get some bigger game names to program for them - I haven’t checked out the games they’re offering, so I have no idea what the quality is, but if they could get PopCap involved, or something? Could generate a lot of money, I would think, with the huge number of casual gamers. . .

Have you heard about ACORN????!?!??!

Filed under: HA!, PolenBabble — Twin C @ 12:58 am

There’s been a lot of talk this week about various scandals and connections and involvements with our presidential and vice presidential candidates, and I wanted to set everyone straight about ACORN. You don’t need to know anything about it, really, except for what it stands for:

Arab
Communists
Organizing
Radical
Negroes

Please make sure to alert FOX News immediately. And that ubiquitous blonde woman in the Blogger Interrupted video.

P.S. Just in case you were wondering.

UPDATE: Whoops. Sorry, my friends.

“Well, Michael is singing ABBA, and Mark and Eric are mopping.”

“It’s not horse meat.”

“It’s not poop.”
