Filed under: HA!, PolenBabble — Twin C @ 3:32 pm

My inner geek just started cheering.

How much fun would this be?

PSB is home safe.

She had quite a time in Tajikistan.

We’re both going to chill this weekend - nothing major on the agenda. We hope to make it out to a friend’s party on Sunday.

What’s going on with you?

Home!

I got in last night around 8 p.m. PSB is still on her next adventure in Tajikistan. Apparently getting there was crazy, but I haven’t gotten the story yet.

Despite keeping myself up until midnight (over 24 hours since Turkey is seven hours ahead), I woke up at 6 a.m. this morning and have been up since, catching up on websites and starting to deal with the suitcases.

I imagine I’m going to be slammed today and tomorrow at work, and then I’m going to Atlantic City this weekend to meet some online friends from Full Tilt Forum (remember when I played in that online tourney series a while back?) - I haven’t decided if I’m going tomorrow or Saturday yet. Knowing me, probably tomorrow. Even without much sleep, how can I resist the siren’s call? So it’s going to take a little while to type out the Turkey blogs. We did take a ton of pictures though - I’ll get those online early next week.

Overall it was really a great trip. I’m not sure if we want to do another two week bus tour though. I started to get a little stir crazy by day 10, and PSB had to deal with me in full crank mode a number of times, which I’m sure in a foreign city is even less fun.

Anything interesting happen while I was gone?

The Highlight of the Trip. Hands Down.

Today PSB and I were wandering around Topkapi Palace, where the Sultans and their wives and concubines and eunichs and lots of other people lived. There were many exhibit halls featuring ancient cookware, weaponry, treasures, and religious artifacts. We walked past them all, giving everything cursory glances, until we found ourselves in front of. . .

the Rod of Moses.

No shit.

We were not allowed to take pictures in that room, which also featured some bones from John the Baptist and Mohammed’s footprint, but we basked in the glory of its gnarled woodiness for as long as we could. We also elbowed each other in the ribs a few times for good measure.

Home soon!

UPDATE: some people sneakier than I have taken illegal shots in the past - here’s one.
