Burlesque-a-licious!

I’ve had the good fortune to catch two diffent burlesque performances this weekend. The first was at Mondo Porno Pirates! at Arlene’s Grocery, where Jonny Mobot and Susanna rocked us with their band, SweetyBomb. After they left the stage, Molly Crabapple from the Pyrate Sisters came up and did some fire eating striptease, which was great. Last night I got to crash DKNY’s bachelor party, and after gorging on an amazing Twin B made meal (BBQ brisket, herbed pork, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach - YUM!!!) Dottie Lux and Veronika Sweet from Red Hots Burlesque stopped by to put on a little show for DKNY. Pictures will most likely be posted shortly. They’re naughty, but not that naughty.

Nice way to shake it, ladies!

Twin C 723: i just asked a manager if she needed anything from office depot.
Twin C 723: she tells me: I need one of those notebooks people use to take notes at meetings but I am not sure you can get them there. Do you know what I am referring to? (That other manager) might use them too.
drplacebo: did you say “you mean the ones… with paper in them?”
Twin C 723: almost
Twin C 723: Is it 8 ½ by 11 inches or smaller? Wirebound or more like a pad? Lined paper or blank? Anything special about the cover?
Twin C 723: i thought those were good questions.
Twin C 723: not “DO YOU THINK I READ MINDS?”
drplacebo: and most importantly: does it have a picture of a kitten on it?
Twin C 723: kittie!
Twin C 723: Does it fit in a Trapper Keeper or a Data Center?
drplacebo: is it controlled by the Master Control Program?
Twin C 723: Does it have a black and white speckled cover?
Twin C 723: Does it only say “yes” or “no”?

Administrative Professionals Day (Week?)

Filed under: PolenBabble, Kvetch! Kvetch! Kvetch! — Twin C @ 10:46 am

Hello from yet another lame ass made up holiday created in the hopes of selling just a few more greeting cards and flowers. Fuck you, Hallmark.

So far, I’ve received a free cafeteria catered lunch, and a plant. The plant looks like a smaller version of the bushes that my parents used to have in front of their house. It apparently never needs to be watered, fed, or for that matter, looked at. I think I would have preferred the money they gave to the florist. Then I could have bought some donuts or something.

The real treat of the day is that PSB and I are going to Cirque du Soleil tonight! We’re really looking forward to it.

In the meantime, I’m patiently waiting for the caterer who’s supposed to be feeding my managers (have I mentioned that I’m now supporting three managers for a few weeks, until one of them gets a temp?) finally shows up. They’re a half an hour late, having left mid-town west 10 minutes before they were supposed to get here - what the fuck were they thinking??????? I’m not thrilled but I accept it when my own negligence/incompetence makes me look bad, but when other people’s negligence/incompetence makes me look bad, I get PISSED.

Never mind. They just showed up.

I just posted everything I did this weekend, and what I’m doing tonight, and the blog ATE IT.

I am NOT retyping it again. Instead I will just be angry.

FUCK YOU, YAHOO!!!!!

Filed under: Kvetch! Kvetch! Kvetch! — Twin C @ 10:25 am

I am so fucking tired of having to fill out a text recognition entry when I am replying to a friend’s e-mail, or when I am forwarding to four or five people at once. I’d still be annoyed, but probably a little less annoyed, if I WASN’T GETTING BOMBARDED BY 50 PORN SPAM E-MAILS A DAY!!!

Plus, I am paying $20 a year for the (only very slightly) upgraded account!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!! Stop making your paying customers perform some stupid ass test when they’re NOT BCCing 100 people at a time, but just sending normal e-mails back and forth!!! And while you’re at it, change your fucking spam filters so all this crap doesn’t get through to me!!!! Fuckers!!! Do your fucking jobs!!!!

Spam it up, spammie.

Filed under: PolenBabble, Kvetch! Kvetch! Kvetch! — Twin C @ 1:55 pm

Another barrage of spam this morning - from cell phone websites in the UK, and from some band I’ve never heard of. Fuck off, bastards! Go look for buddies on MySpace.

Last night was the Moth Outreach show at the Players - an excellent show (as usual). Our good friend Mike Daisey hosted this time, and did a splendid job, especially with his “story” about asking Andy Borowitz and Jonathan Ames for tips about hosting (Andy said “tell Jew jokes!” and Jonathan said “talk about crack whores!”) (not really). All the stories were great as well - the theme was New York Stories. It featured a 12 year old (youngest Moth storyteller EVAR!) telling a story about how on the night before his birthday, the roof of his building caught on fire, and in the chaos that ensued, he cut himself badly and his mom disappeared for hours. The headliners were Jack Hitt, with a story about his first apartment, how his landlord might have tried to kill him, and how his crazy super might have saved his life, and Daryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run DMC!), speaking about finding out he was adopted and how it affected him, as well as depression, existential despair, and Sarah McLachlan. (Hanging out with Mike Daisey and Twin B after the show, he stopped to say goodbye and shook our hands. I refrained from busting out into “You Be Illin”.)

Congrats to PSB and Frank at the Moth for such a great show!
